U4 Sponsors 2 Year - My Favorite Book - Reading Program

SYRACUSE, Indiana - October 1, 2007 - U4 co-sponsored the purchase and distribution of 'My Favorite Book' to 1^st and 2^nd graders at Syracuse Elementary starting in 2006 and continuing in 2007. 'My Favorite Book' covers the subjects of good manners, making the world better, being brave in an emergency, importance of our community, friendship, family, following rules, keeping your body healthy, and a family discussion.

"Reading is the foundation of learning. Reading about core values is a great for the family," said Ben Plikerd, CEO U4. "The key to reading in 1^st and 2^nd grade is the parent involvement," said Kristi Plikerd. Kristi continued, "The statement in the Parents Section is correct, 'the best thing we can do is give our children time'. The values and topics covered in this book are important for the family as a whole to discuss. We hope you use this book as a launching pad for great interaction with your children."
