U4 Announces Pen Amnesty Day
SYRACUSE, Indiana - August 24, 2007 - U4 has chosen to mark the 4th Friday of August as National Bring Your Pens Back to Work Day. Rich Hays, Director of Marketing, said, "We hope the date /event will catch on Nationwide!" The idea is simple; bring all pens you accidentally took home over the last year back to work. Ben Plikerd, President U4, "It just happens, we take pens home all the time just like you end up with pens from the bank. Pens have a way of traveling. You don't start out your day planning to collect pens; you pick it up, use it, then the next thing you know it is in your pocket or purse. When you get home, you clean out your purse or empty your pockets." Plikerd continued, "At the beginning of the year I bought 500 pens. Mysteriously the only pens that we have left in the building are the ones collected from trade shows." U4 hopes setting a day to call attention to this issue will make people take action and return the pens. Bill Rondeau, CFO U4, said, "A business can decrease costs greatly with an amnesty day. While the cost of a pen is not much, small expenditures add up." Plikerd added, "U4 will be celebrating the return of pens to the office by allowing this day to be a Blue Jeans Friday!"
