U4 Announces SIP Trunk Offering

SYRACUSE, Indiana – December 22th, 2008 – “U4 now has SIP Trunking available for immediate use,” said Rich Hays, Marketing Director of U4. “This is the second in a series of VOIP related services U4 is introducing to the market. SIP offers the flexibility demanded in today’s communications. We will be the first to admit that SIP is somewhat of a hard concept to grasp, but think of it as communications crossing land lines, cell phones, and internet connections. It allows you to better control how your voice and data are transmitted from location to location. The clearest statement that can be made is ‘All you need is an internet connection to communicate.’ A brief explanation of SIP follows.”

What is SIP? - SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a de facto VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) standard that describes the basic signals used to initiate, manage, and terminate communications sessions. For the non-technical, a SIP trunk describes the use of an Internet connection as a replacement for traditional telephone circuits receiving incoming calls and allowing the placement of outgoing calls. Local telephone numbers can be called by people anywhere in the world using the Internet and "SIP trunks." SIP trunk is somewhat a misnomer. SIP Trunks are not really trunks or dedicated circuits at all. Rather, the number of SIP trunks that a business requires is determined by the number of simultaneous calls.
Why is SIP unique? It goes beyond voice. It is the industry-backed control standard for multimedia communications or convergence – voice, data, video, and mobile. Because SIP trunks are not fixed in capacity, they grow rapidly with the needs of the enterprise. In addition, SIP trunks can be delivered anywhere served by sufficient levels of Internet connectivity. This flexibility allows for you to better shape to your communication needs. Features like “Find Me, Follow Me” and Video Phones are simple to set up.
What are the Benefits of SIP Trunking? Location Independence - Traditional voice is attached to a physical location or a piece of equipment. SIP VOIP flexibility allows call routing to any IP address worldwide including home offices, soft phones, cell phones and video phones. If there is a broadband internet connection at the location, a SIP Trunk can be used to handle the communications.
Cost Efficiency - SIP trunks are far more cost effective that traditional TDM circuits. A typical small business could easily save 25% or much more on their monthly communications bill.
Pure IP connection - A SIP Trunk is a VOIP trunk that uses SIP for session control and establishes a pure IP connection. This is important for 3 reasons:
1. The VOIP trunk can handle multi-media (voice, data, video and mobile).
2. The circuit-switched hand-off to the PSTN is not needed – lowering costs:
• Fewer hardware interfaces
• Fewer PSTN circuits
• Fewer hardware interfaces to maintain
3. Direct SIP trunking to IP PBXs and soft switches means no additional hardware to achieve end-to-end VOIP.
4. Direct Inward Dialing (DID) numbers can be provided from virtually any location in North America and a large number of other countries. This permits enterprises to establish a "virtual" presence with incoming calls ringing at a centralized facility.
“When comparing Sip Trunks and VOIP service to land lines, U4 has seen between 40% to 60% savings,” said Hays.

The CEO U4VOIP Special

SYRACUSE, Indiana - December 15th 2008 - Rich Hays, Director of Marketing for U4 announced the CEO U4VOIP Special today. He said, “I thought he was off his rocker, but our CEO said, ‘We are shaking up the VOIP market by offering U4VOIP 500 @ Home for $75 a year. It works out to be $6.25 per month. This is the least expensive VOIP service you will find anywhere.’” Hays continued, “If you need unlimited VOIP, we have it. We even have Video Phone so you can see the people you are talking to.”

“The economy is taking its toll on everyone,” said Ben Plikerd CEO of U4. “We are just beginning to see the effects. I think it will get worse. As a member of this community, I cannot sit back and watch it happen. I felt required to offer a solution to help people through the hard times to come. VOIP is the answer to saving money for people and businesses. I knew if U4 offered a ridiculously low price, people would consider it. Now you, the community, need to take action and find out how much it will help you.”

Bob Brown, Director of Information Technologies at U4, commented, “There are some questions U4 gets asked when we talk to people about U4VOIP. I wanted to take a few moments and answer those. Yes, you can keep your number. It normally takes about 15 days to convert to U4VOIP. You should have a DSL or Cable internet connection. You must have 100k of in and out bound bandwidth per call beyond what you use to surf the internet. If you have one phone line and DSL, U4VOIP would be good for adding a second line.”

“While I hope you will choose U4VOIP,” Plikerd mentioned, “you need to seriously consider the savings’ VOIP has to offer and make the switch.”

SYRACUSE, Indiana - September 18, 2008 - U4 offers Dry Loop DSL in select areas in Indiana. You may have never heard of the term “Dry Loop” because it has not been available until recently. This means you can get DSL without having it associated with a phone number.

“Why do you want Dry Loop DSL?,” asks Rich Hays, Director of Marketing. “Since there is no phone number required as part of the DSL service, you can save money by porting your current phone number to U4VOIP. The reduction in cost is about $10 to $20 depending on the VOIP Package your get.”

National Bring Your Pens Back to Work Day

SYRACUSE, Indiana - August 22, 2008 - U4 has chosen to mark the 4th Friday of August as National Bring Your Pens Back to Work Day. Rich Hays, Director of Marketing, said, “It is that time of year again, when we remind everyone to bring pens back to work” The idea is simple; bring all pens you accidentally took home over the last year back to work. Ben Plikerd, President U4, “I know I am guilty of sticking a pen in my pocket, it just happens, that is why I offer amnesty for returning pens. We take pens home all the time just like you end up with pens from the bank. You don’t start out your day planning to collect pens; you pick it up, use it, then the next thing you know it is in your pocket or purse. When you get home, you clean out your purse or empty your pockets.” Plikerd continued, “After last year’s Pen Amnesty Day, our pens were not returned, but I had so many other pens given to me it was nuts.” U4 hopes setting a day to call attention to this issue will make people take action and return the pens. Bill Rondeau, CFO U4, said, “While we did not get the pens we purchased back, we received enough pens that we did not need to purchase more.”
